Aingaran Pillai Appointed to techUK’s New Central Government Council
Pillai uses decades of experience working with government to help other SMEs follow suit
Aingaran Pillai CEO and founder at Zaizi – an award winning data consultancy – has been appointed to techUK’s New Central Government Council. The Council aims to connect leaders across the tech industry and deliver an aspiring programme of activity between techUK and central government.
Pillai was selected for the Council due to his solid experience in providing data management solutions to both central and local government including the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Department for Education, the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and Bristol City Council. Combined, government work makes up over 95 per cent of Zaizi’s business.
Regularly speaking at international government IT events and hosting the annual Open Gov Summit in the UK, Pillai is passionate about empowering data-driven government and will now use his position on the council to help government and SMEs work together effectively.
Prior to founding Zaizi, Pillai worked at the London Borough of Camden, where he lead the APLAWS (Accessible and Personalised Local Authority Website System), a national e-Government project to build an open source e-Gov CMS. The work on APLAWS at Camden was nominated by Google for the British Computer Society awards.
Aingaran Pillai CEO and founder at Zaizi said: “I am thrilled to be part of the Council to progress the collaboration of central government and SME techUK members. Having actively promoted open source technology and its use within government for the last 16 years, it’s my mission for the Council to now focus on helping techUK members in following the plan the Government has published to engage successfully with central government and grow their business.
“There is no better time than now for SMEs to capitalise on the chance of working with government. Not only does it provide SMEs with the chance to grow at a rapid rate, it also offers exciting opportunities they might not get with bigger businesses.”
